Bruins win 5-1 on the road at Douglas

The Brookings-Harbor High School boys soccer team traveled to Winston on Thursday to take on the Trojans of Douglas High School in its second league game of the season and came home happy.

"They played a lot better," Head Coach Gabriel Anaya said. "They started the game on time this time."

The Bruins started so on time they were up 3-0 in the first half of the game, and ended up winning 5-1 after the final whistle blew.

"They made great passes," Anaya said. "They kept the ball on the ground and looked a lot better than last week."

Forward Alan Anaya and midfielder Nels Johnson scored the five goals between them for the Bruins. Anaya, three goals, swept up the bowlers, the ten-gallons, the bonnets and the fedoras after claiming his hat trick and Johnson, two goals, was stymied andndash; just one goal short of the trick.

According to Anaya, the game was played on the Bruins' half of the field with the Trojans only getting two or three shots on goal.

The Bruins improve to 2-2-1 overall and 2-1 in Far West League play. Their next game is scheduled to be at home against the Bulldogs of Sutherlin. The game is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
