By the third inning of the fourth game in the All-Star tournament in Brookings Tuesday, things were looking grim for the 9-10 year old Brookings-Brookings Harbor Little League team.

Their opponent, the Grants Pass Nationals, were ahead 11-1. However, things improved in the fourth inning when a combination of walks and singles helped the Brookings team close the gap by six runs. The team then caught up to and passed the Nationals in the fifth and six innings to win the game 19-14.

"The other team's pitching went down and my boys didn't swing at any ugly pitches," said Coach Zeus Zamora. "They dug in and fought."

The Brookings team, now 2-2 for the tournament, will play the Medford Nationals at 2 p.m. today (July 4). The winner of that game will play for the title against the winner of the 11 a.m. matchup between the Grants pass Nationals and the Grants Pass Americans.
