"Hitting was good, pitching was good, defense was good," Head Coach

Steve Bonde said following Tuesday's 11-1 victory over the Bulldogs of

North Bend. "Everything was way better today than it was a week ago at

this time."

The Bruins dovetailed quality hitting with outstanding pitching from freshman Courtney Kay into a solid victory to move into fourth place in the Far West League.

The Lady Bruins reduced the numbers in the errors column to just one to the delight of Bonde and team members.

"We only had one error," Mimi Fernandez said. "It was pretty amazing, we all did a good job today."

Fernandez was the winning run to cross the plate after getting on base with a walk.

Kayla Webre, who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs hit the walk single to score Fernandez and win the game andndash; via the mercy rule andndash; in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Kay had the only extra-base hit for the Bruins striking a double as she hit .667 with two runs scored.

Megan Strain had a birthday bash with three RBIs on 2 of 3 hitting.

The Bruins had a total of 11 hits in the game and look to carry the momentum of their win into Friday's doubleheader against the third-place Siuslaw Vikings. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
