Bruins Softball loses first, ties shortened 2nd

The Brookings-Harbor High School softball team lost the first game 2-9 to the Warriors of Del Norte, but turned things around in the second game of the double header just in time to have the umpire call the game due to darkness all tied up 7-7.

The Lady Bruins battled cold, and the inexperience born of an inability to practice outside for the first few weeks of the season in the game one loss, but were able to tie the second game, 7-7, in the bottom of the fourth inning, just to have the umpire call the game due to darkness before the inning was over.

"We had runners on first and third with one out after scoring six runs in the inning," Head Coach Steve Bonde said. "And the ump called the game. Unbelievable."

"We had some first game jitters but we'll get the kinks worked out," he added.

The squad travels to Marshfield on Friday.
