This year's track team is getting ready to run, jump, sprint and throw their way to the state track meet.
Last year, the Bruins sent a handful of athletes to the state meet, but new head coach Paul Angove hopes to send a few more.
andquot;We always want to send a bunch of kids to state,andquot; said Angove. andquot;But I want all the kids to feel that they have had some success at the end of the year.andquot;
The Bruins will be riding on the shoulders of the experienced throwers this year.
On the girls' side, Tabby Reneman took fourth place in state last year in the discus as the top finisher for the Bruins.
Justine Cuthbertson also reached the state meet in the shot put.
For the guys, Mike Chambers narrowly missed qualifying for state in the shot put.
He will be joined this year by Chris Althof, who will try his hand in the discus this year.
Several other Bruins have potential to make waves in the Far West League this season.
andquot;I have high hopes for the 4 by 400 team,andquot; said Angove. andquot;And Kyle Botnen plans to break the school's pole vault record this year.andquot;
The long-distance runners should also show well after a strong cross country season this year.
