Even while playing a man down for the entire game, the Brookings-Harbor High School JV girls' soccer team pounced on the South Umpqua Lancers in a 4-0 win Tuesday afternoon.
The Bruins started scoring early on, as Rachel Carrillo put the Bruins on the board only one minute into the game on an assist by Miriam Hernandez.
With about nine minutes left in the first half, Hernandez notched her first goal of the game to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, Hernandez tallied two more goals to complete the hat trick as the Bruins went on for a 4-0 victory.
Emily Bottoms and Sam Shields split time in goal to record the shutout.
On defense, Jenna Flowers and Kelly Aldrich helped keep the ball out of the back field while Laura Garcia had an excellent game in the middle of the field for the Bruins.
The next game for the Bruins is on Thursday, Oct. 11 at North Valley at 4 p.m.
