The Azalea Middle School wrestling team had eight wrestlers capture first place finishes as the Bruins placed fourth overall at the eight team district meet at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay Thursday evening.

With four individual champions, the seventh grade squad fared the best of the Bruin teams and finished third overall in the seventh grade division.

Seventh grade champions were: Brandon Holteen at 90 pounds, Sean Graham at 95 pounds, Travis Wiggins at 105 pounds and Darrell Hopper at 150 pounds.

Kendal Pettis (110 pounds) and Steven Nagel (125) took second place while Chase Johnston (105), C.J. Paxton (160) and Jacob Klinefelter (170) came in third place in their respective divisions.

The eighth grade team finished fourth overall with three individual champions: Pete Peterson at 105 pounds, Diondre Runyon at 115 pounds and Tim Drafahl at 135 pounds.

Andrew Goergen (150) also placed for the Bruins with a fourth place finish.

The sixth grade team finished fifth overall, led by Robert McDonaugh at 135 pounds, the lone champion for the sixth graders.

Brycen Cessnun (70), Anthony Childress (95) and Levi Beckley (105) all finished in second place for the tournament.
