Savannah Hensley, daughter of Mike Hensley and Twyla Sullivan of Brookings, a 2004 graduate of Brookings-Harbor High School (BHHS) will be playing softball this year for the powerhouse Bears of the University of California, Berkeley.

The Cal Bears are a team with 20 consecutive NCAA regional appearances and nine appearances in the Women's College World Series in recent years and are consistently ranked among the top teams in the nation.

So far this season, Hensley has appeared in eight games for the Bears and is 2-for-3 from the plate with a double and two RBIs. She has also seen time as a pinch runner, scoring three runs on the year.

While playing softball for the BHHS Bruins, Hensley earned First Team All-State accolades while hitting .440 her senior year.

Hensley was also a two-time Far West League Gold Glove winner and All-League selection and was the scholar-athlete of the year with a 4.286 G.P.A.

After graduating from BHHS, Hensley played two seasons at the College of the Siskiyous.

While playing third base and shortstop, Hensley appeared in 43 games as a sophomore, held a .330 batting average and recorded 37 hits to go along with 25 runs.

After transferring to Cal in January of 2007, Hensley tried out for the softball team and walked on for the 2008 season.
