In only their third game of the year and first in over a week, the Brookings-Harbor High School baseball team fell to a tough Rogue River squad, 7-1, Tuesday evening.

andquot;We competed the whole game,andquot; Coach Pat Berkowitz said. andquot;Rogue River's a good team. We're going to make adjustments and we're going to get better.andquot;

The Bruins (1-2) are still a very young and fairly inexperienced team that will continue to improve throughout the year.

andquot;This is only our third game and I like seeing what some of the young kids can do out there,andquot; Berkowitz said.

Walks and errors proved to be the big problem for the Bruins Tuesday night as five of the seven runs allowed were unearned.

Fred Corpening pitched the first three innings for the Bruins and held off the Chieftains until they tallied three runs in the third.

Rogue River added two more runs in the fourth inning off of Tyler Parke before the Bobby Hansen scored the Bruins' lone run in the fifth inning.

The Chieftains added two more runs in the sixth inning to cap off the scoring for the night.

Nick Taresh led the Bruins with a pair of hits while Parke, Hansen, Jacob Eszlinger and Dustin Paradis each recorded a hit.

The next game for the Bruins will be a doubleheader against Arcata on Friday, April 4. While the varsity team will be at Arcata, the JV baseball team will be playing at Fortuna on April 4.
