Spending Saturday Making a Difference

The Curry Coastal Pilot

Volunteers from Curry County and beyond will descend on Brookings to better the community during Make A Difference Day on Saturday.

Volunteers will spend the morning doing cleaning, repairing and painting projects at various public buildings, parks and properties. Volunteers also will build hygiene, school and infant supply kits.

It's not too late to volunteer. Simply show up at 8 a.m. Saturday at Azalea Park's KidTown. There you will find signup sheets and directions to one of the many project locations. Volunteers who know what they want to do are encouraged to bring their own tools (A list of projects can be found in the story on Page 1A.)

There is certainly something for everyone andndash; individuals, families, businesses, civic groups and churches andndash; to do.

What may be more significant than the difference this one day makes is the long term effect of introducing people to volunteerism andndash; one of the single most effective ways to improve our community.

It takes a community of dedicated volunteers working together to build and strengthen our community, and the Pilot applauds the coordinators of this event and the volunteers who have already signed up to participate.

We encourage everyone to sign up Saturday at Azalea Park and head out into the community to make a difference.
