Dennis E. Hyde
Sept. 15, 1940-Aug. 26, 2014
Dennis E. Hyde of Brookings passed away at Curry Good Samaritan on Aug. 26, 2014, at the age of 73.
Denny was born Sept. 15, 1940, in Myrtle Point, to Lloyd and Marjorie (Barzee) Hyde. He went to school in Gold Beach, and worked there for many years in the logging industry.
He met Dianna Frye in Powers, and they were married Dec. 10, 1965, in Reno, Nevada, and together they had two children.
Denny was a hard worker, and retired after 30 years with South Coast Lumber Co. He was a devoted husband and a loving father who never missed one of his children's sporting events. He loved sports, and was a huge Saints fan.
Denny was a man with a big heart, and was always there to help those who needed him, including animals. He had many cats and dogs, and was an animal lover. He was a good talker with a knack for storytelling. He would tell jokes at the dinner table (some of which required his children to cover their ears first). He loved family dinners, particularly "taco night."
Aside from his family, Denny's hobbies included deer hunting, riding motorcycles and his quad, trading vehicles, watching TV, and camping. He loved his vehicles, and was very tidy with his rig.
Denny is survived by his wife, Dianna; their children, daughter Stacy Hyde Taresh and her husband Randy of Brookings, and son Dennis "Yogi" Hyde of Brookings; his son Robert Hyde of Texas; son Kenny Hyde of Texas; grandchildren Chelsie Taresh Ciscell and her husband Galen, Nick Taresh, Austin Hyde, Michael Hyde, Amanda Hyde, Heather Hyde, and Christopher Temple; five great-grandchildren; sister Donna Luttrell and her husband Ken of Roseburg; and four nephews and two nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Marjorie Hyde; and his oldest daughter, Diane Carp Hyde, from his first marriage.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Denny's name to the girls and boys athletic programs at Brookings Harbor High School, 629 Easy Street, Brookings, OR 97415, or to the South Coast Humane Society, P.O. Box 7833, Brookings, OR 97415.
The family appreciates the kind and loving care provided to Denny during his stay at Curry Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Facility.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, for close friends and family at Stacy and Randy Taresh's home, 860 Crestwood Place, which is off of Ransom Avenue in Brookings. People may park at the vacant homes nearby, on the street, or in the gravel lot behind the Brookings-Harbor Christian Church on Fifth Street. This is a potluck style gathering, so please bring your favorite dish to share.
