Patrick L. Toft, 80, passed away Oct. 22, 2013, at his home in Brookings.
Patrick was born July 19, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla. to William and Vernie (Caroll) Arnold.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where his duties included the transportation of Navy admirals.
Patrick was a self-taught man. There wasn't anything he couldn't learn - and learn to do well. He taught himself how to weld and was a certified welder for most of his life. He also worked in carpentry and was employed in the sawmills in Crescent City. Patrick was a truck driver as well.
He married Mary Lou Imel Aug. 10, 1981, in Las Vegas. Patrick enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, restoring old cars, working, carpentry, trains and airplanes, bowling and shooting pool.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou of Brookings; sons Peter Toft of Grants Pass, Michael Toft of Purdy, Wash., Patrick Toft of Purdy; daughters Pamela Hinrich of Laclede, Idaho, Brandy Toft of Purdy; stepson James Cunningham of Medford; stepdaughter Vera Miller of Purdy. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Patrick was preceded in death by his brothers Tommy and Ronny Fisher; and sister Florence.
