Joseph T. "Dobe" Wilson, 93, of Brookings, passed away March 4, 2013, in Crescent City, Calif.

Dobe, as he was known most of his life, was born May 26, 1919, in Denver, Colo., to Lyttleton and Susie (Noblin) Wilson.

He grew up and attended school there. Following high school, Dobe entered the Yale School of Architecture and began studies. Dobe left Yale to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II, but returned and finished his degree following the war.

He enjoyed painting and was very active in the community, including service on the Chetco Community Public Library Board and the Board of Equalization (now known as the County Board of Property Assessments and Values). He was also a member of St. Timothy Episcopal Church and the League of Women Voters. Dobe enjoyed his involvement with the Great Decisions Group.

Survivors include Constance, his wife of 67 years, of Brookings; daughters Kye Forsee and her husband Bruce of Alexandria, Va., and Suzi Wilson of New York City; grandchildren Diane Marineau, David, Alan and Peter Forsee; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dobe was preceded in death by a son, David, and brothers Lyttleton and Cyrus.
