Vera Dorene Pavlik-Baldivid, of Brookings, died Feb. 11, 2013, at her home after an extended illness. She was 90 years old.

Vera was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Telluride, Colo., the daughter of the late William A. and Annie Elizabeth Wood. In her early years she lived in Rico, Colo., then Magna, Utah.

She moved to California in 1941, and spent most of her years in Glendale, Calif., until April, 1986, when she moved to Brookings. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses as a member of the Verdugo Hills, Calif., congregation in March 1957, and most recently was a member of the South Brookings congregation.

Vera is survived by her husband Ruben Baldivid; children Linda Rush of Pasadena, Calif., Ronald Huffman of Brookings, and Stephen Pavlik of Karu, Estonia; stepchildren Natalie Lynn Higley of San Bernardino, Calif., Jennifer Baldivid of San Diego, and Mariah Foglietta of Riverside, Calif. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Edward J. Pavlik.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today (Feb. 23), at Brookings Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1208 Ransom Ave., in Brookings. Bob Lewis will officiate. A reception will follow. Condolences may be expressed at
