Steven Charles Brown, 60, of Brookings, passed away on the morning of Nov. 4, 2012, at his home.

He was born Nov. 18, 1951 to Jessie and Donald Brown in Springfield.

In 1978, he married Martha Danel with whom he raised a family of four in their home in Brookings. He had a love of the sea and continued in the family trade of commercial fishing.

Steve will be remembered by family and friends for his humor, optimism, calm demeanor and as a natural conversationalist. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, following current events, and rooting for the Ducks, Blazers and Browns.

As a long-time resident of Brookings-Harbor, his family would like to thank the community for all of the love and support over the years and in his passing.

Steve is survived by his wife Martha; sons Oren, Slade and Sam; daughter Quillyn; grandchildren Ethan, Ashton, Aidan, Serena, Lucion and Roman; sisters Linda and Judy; brother Ralph. He also leaves behind many close friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary.

A memorial service, followed by a celebration of life, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Elks Lodge 1934, 800 Elk Drive, in Brookings.
