Frederick "Fred" Zimmerman, of Brookings, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, in Medford. He was 73.

Fred was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Eureka, Calif., to Emil and Myrtle (Hacker) Zimmerman. He attended school in Washington and Oregon, graduating from the Canyonville Bible Academy. He continued in personal studies to become a minister and pastor at Assembly of God Churches in various towns in California.

Fred married Judith Spellmeyer July 28, 1963, in Eureka. During and following his work as minister and evangelist, Fred worked as a lathe operator in different mills, including in Brookings after he and Judy moved here in 1971. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, crabbing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife Judy, of Brookings; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and John Ramirez of Medford; daughter LaVonne Zimmerman of Brookings; son and daughter-in-law Norman and Michelle Zimmerman of McCall, Idaho; grandchildren Isabella, Geoffrey, Heather, Shawnetta, Norman, Angeline and Matt; great-grandchildren Andrew, Cailyn, Julia, Lily, and one "on the way."

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at W.J. Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings. Pastors Rick Green and Ronald Robertson will officiate. Interment will follow.
