Ronald ‘Ron’ Townsend

The Curry Coastal Pilot

Ron Townsend, of Smith River died June 6, 2012 in Fremont, Calif.

He was born Sept. 14, 1945 in Los Angeles, to Ashley and Ernestine Townsend.

Ron attended San Jose City College two years, and served in the U.S. Air Force four years.

He married Vicki Davison July 16, 1966 in San Jose.

Ron was employed as a 9-1-1-dispatcher for the San Jose Police and San Jose Fire departments in California for 30 years.

He and Vicki moved to Smith River in 2001. Ron was a member of the Curry County Cruisers.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Smith River; daughters Connie of Pleasanton, Calif. and Kathryn of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren Ashley of Pleasanton and Amanda of Chattanooga, Tenn., Liam and Aidan of Sacramento; great-grandson Theo of Chattanooga.

A U.S. Air Force Honor Guard service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the VFW Hall, 507 Pacific Ave., in Brookings.
