Lucille M. Gow

The Curry Coastal Pilot

Former Brookings resident Lucille Mary Gow went to be with the Lord, her Shepherd, on April 3, 2012, after nearly 98 years of good living.

Lucille was born in Kansas City, Mo., and traveled to California as a child with her parents and siblings.

Lucille was raised in Rio Linda,Calif., the oldest daughter of 17 children and her mother's best helper.

In 1933 she married Bernard Alfred Gow, the love of her life. They picked cotton and fruit during years of the Great Depression just to sur- vive.

Moving to Oregon in 1949, they bought a 49 acre farm with milk cows, but soon developed it into a poultry farm, and sold that in 1966 with 15,000 laying hens.

They moved to the Oregon coast and bought a small motel and created a wonderful recreation place for charter fishing tourists.

In 1976 they retired to Brookings, where they built their dream home. Lucille remained living there after her husband passed away in 1991.

In 2007 she relocated to Auburn, Calif., to live near her daughter Nancy Cremarosa and son-in-law Michael Cremarosa. We do so cherish those years we were able to share with her. She was a wonderful mother and we will miss her and her cheerful smile and happy ways.

She is also survived by grandchildren Pamela Martin of Merrillville, Ind., Angela Chambers of Nampa, Idaho and Barney Chambers of Ollala, Wash. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren.

A family graveside service was held April 11 in Brookings. Lucille was laid to rest beside her husband.
