Darlene Julie (Ripple) Kessler
Former Brookings resident Darlene Julia (Ripple), Kessler 75, of Malin, passed away Nov. 10, 2011.
Darlene was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Eureka, Calif., to Leslie V. Ripple and Georgette M. (Burgess) Ripple.
She spent her growing up years in Blocksburg, Calif. The family moved to Malin, where she graduated from high school.
She married Paul Raymond Kessler of Malin, Aug. 11, 1953. Darlene then settled into her life as a wife and mother.
Darlene and Paul moved to Brookings in 1960 where she raised their two children. She earned a license as a realtor and spent 15 years working in the industry where she was several times named to the Millionaires' Club.
While in Brookings, Darlene was a member of the First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and taught high school Sunday school. The Kesslers hosted the Baptist Youth Fellowship in their home for many years.
Darlene and Paul moved back to Malin for the last 16 years to a family ranch where they enjoyed retirement.
Darlene was a member of the Malin Baptist Church. She was a beautiful, Godly and Christian woman who loved her Lord, husband and children more than life. She was a crafter, knitter and made afghans for many family and friends. Her hands were never idle. She loved to bake and can vegetables and fruits, and loved to work in her flowerbeds.
Survivors include her husband Paul R. Kessler of Malin; son Edward P. Kessler, and wife Connie of Shady Cove; daughter Billie R. Huestis of Brookings; sister Deanne F. Simmons of Malin; granddaughter Clara M. Smith and husband Tommy of Brookings; grandsons Ritch Massey and wife Mechelle of Central Point and Eric Massey of Medford; great-grandchildren Julia Smith of Brookings, Christian, Dakota and Colby Massey of Central Point, and Devin, Brayden and Makenna Massey of Medford.
She was preceded in death by her daughters Debra Lynn Kessler and Naomi Ruth Smith; brother William E. Ripple; and parents Leslie and Georgette Ripple.
A service for Darlene will be at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 19, at Malin Baptist Church, 2327 Rush St. Pastor Claude Hagerty will officiate.
