Marion Ruth Cox, 81, Brookings, died Aug. 21, 2000.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1919, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Lindsey C. Jensen, Sr. and Edith Kathryn (Runyon) Jensen.

She was raised and educated in Southern California where she graduated from Long Beach High School.

She married Don Ota Cox in Burbank, Calif., in 1953.

Later, she worked for various employers doing clerical work. She then worked with Lockheed for several years before working for the Federal Reserve Bank, which she retired from in 1983.

She enjoyed many interests and hobbies including traveling the country in her motor home, organizing various functions, entertaining family and friends with dinner parties, canning fruits, jams and jellies. She also enjoyed pottery and arts and crafts.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Brookings VFW Womens Auxiliary, the Burbank Elks Lodge and the Brookings Elks Lodge for more than 20 years.

Survivors are daughter Sherrie Rennie-Rizzio, Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchild Phillip Rizzio, Brookings; her significant other Ralph Cloudis and her beloved dog Suzette.

Also surviving are three other grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren

Preceding her in death were her parents Lindsey and Edith Jensen; husband Don Ota Cox in 1994; brothers Lindsey Jensen Jr. and Richard McMillen.

Services were held Aug. 25 at Scantlins Brookings Chapel. Dr. Gordon E. Myrah officiated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary Chapel.
