Dean Deaner A. Hoeft

Dean Deaner A. Hoeft, 69, Brookings, died Nov. 3, 2000, in Palo Alto, Calif., of colon cancer.

He was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Brainerd, Minn., to Vern and Mary Hoeft.

Mr. Hoeft grew up in Brainerd. He attended Heald Engineering College in San Francisco receiving a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for 40 years in the engineering field.

He served in the U.S. Air force from 1949 to 1953 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, U.N. Service Medal and ROK Presidents Citation Medal.

He married Donna Hoeft July 26, 1975, in Carson City, Nev.

Mr. Hoeft worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, Calif., before retiring to Brookings in 1993.

Survivors are his wife Donna Hoeft, Brookings; stepdaughter Laurie Broughton, Sparks, Nev.; stepsons Donald Broughton, Broomfield, Colo.; Ronald Wagner, Loveland, Colo.; sisters Rosemary Rydin, Palo Alto; Diane Olson, Pasco, Wash.; godchildren Kelly Kofoet, Idaho; Stephani Sullivan, Sacramento; Staci Sena, Broomfield, Colo.; Denise Kanaff, Montana.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his father Vern Hoeft, mother Mary Huggins and his brother James Hoeft.

Services were held Nov. 9 at the Veterans Hospital Chapel in Palo Alto. Chaplain Marsha Davis officiated.

Internment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
