Arline Imogene (Barr) Anderson, 87, Bend, died Jan. 13, 2001, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 23, 1913, in Northport, Wash., to Amon D. and Laura E. (Paff) Barr. She graduated from Sequim High School in Sequim, Wash., in 1931 where she was valedictorian of her class.

She married Arthur L. Anderson on Aug. 31, 1935, in Port Angeles, Wash.

They moved from Port Angeles to Ketchikan, Alaska, in 1941 and lived there until moving to Brookings in 1956. From Brookings, they moved to Bend in 1988.

Mrs. Anderson enjoyed music, reading, bird watching, traveling, gardening, writing and painting. She belonged to Emblem Club 265 in Brookings; the Ladies of the Elks, Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks 1371 in Bend; Sons of Norway, Fjeldheim 47 in Bend, and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Gerald Darnell, Bend; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Heidi Anderson, Eugene; granddaughter Christina Darnell, Portland; grandsons Aaron Darnell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Erik Anderson, Eugene; step-granddaughter Grace Carroll-Anderson, Eugene; great-granddaughter Mary-Katherine Halout, Portland; niece, Patricia Barr, Oakland, Calif.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceding her in death was her husband in 1995, her parents, a sister and a brother.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. at Bend Villa Court, 1801 N.E. Lotus Drive, Bend, where Mrs. Anderson had lived since May 1998.

Disposition will be by cremation and inurnment will be private.
