Samuel Allen Shearman Sr., 80, Brookings, died Jan. 27, 2001, at his home of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Samuel Blair Shearman and Lulu Mae Barnett.

Mr. Shearman worked for Hood Construction Co. from its early days and was instrumental in bringing natural gas to the Pacific Northwest, his family said.

He was a professional bowler and an avid fisherman. He was a long-time resident of Idaho and after his retirement, he lived in Texas and Oregon.

He and his wife moved to Brookings in 1986 where he attended Grace Bible Church.

Survivors are his wife Wilma Shearman, Brookings; daughters Dianne Smithee, Dugway, Utah; Wanda Parker and Dani Darrah, both of Boise, Idaho; son Samuel Allen Shearman Jr., Boise; stepson Larry Jeffress, Woodland, Wash.; stepdaughter Deborah Jackson, Tenaha, Texas.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Charles R. Shearman, sister Mary Lou Burdick, first wife Juanita Marie Gregg Shearman, one stepson, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Interment will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park in Boise, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at Grace Bible Church in Brookings at a later date.
