William Clay Campbell

William Clay Campbell, 82, Brookings, died Aug. 17, 2001, in Brookings of diabetic complications.

He was born June 24, 1919, in Seattle to Kenneth and Gertrude Campbell.

Mr. Campbell grew up in Idaho and Utah, and graduated from University of Idaho with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1946.

He married Madeline Biava April 1947 in Yuma, Ariz.

He served in the military from 1942 to 1945 and received the Bronze Star Commendation. He worked at California Portland Cement in Colton, Calif., and was a member of the Professional Engineers Association.

Mr. Campbell moved to Brookings in October 1991 from Redlands, Calif.

Survivors are wife, Lynn Campbell, Brookings; son, Craig Campbell, Riverside, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and DeAnn Campbell of Hayburn, Idaho; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Wade Evans of Grants Pass; and brother Richard Campbell of Ogden, Utah.

He is also survived by step-grandchildren Katie and Sam Gunderson.

Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lyle Campbell.

No services will be held.

Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
