C.J. Heaton

C.J. Heaton, 76, Brookings, died March 21, 2002, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Yardville Heights, N.J., to Edmund and May Heaton.

He married the former Anaetta Wilde April 12, 1946, in Trenton, N.J.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked with his brother at the Heaton Steel Supply Inc. in Klamath Falls. He retired in 1987 and moved to Brookings.

Mr. Heaton attended the Presbyterian Church in Klamath Falls. He was a member of the Elks and the VFW in both Klamath Falls and Brookings. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening. He was a rock hound hunting and collecting rocks.

Survivors include his wife of Brookings; son, Bruce Heaton of Brookings; daughters, Lynn Baker of Medford; Cynthia Beeson of Manchester, N.H.; brothers, Robert Heaton of Gainsville, Fla.; Charles Heaton of Klamath Falls.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Deborah Braman in 2000, and five brothers and sisters.

A memorial service was March 26 at at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Medford. Pastor Jay Milojevich of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiated.

A memorial graveside service followed at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
