Kirk Bower

Kirk Bower, 68, Crescent City, died on April 8, 2002, in Crescent City.

He was born in Portland, July 18, 1933, to Rudy and Emily Bower

Kirk was raised in Ketchikan, Alaska, and graduated from Ketchikan High School in 1952. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953-1955.

He and his brother owned and operated Bowers Barbershop for 30 years.

His love of playing the violin began when he was 10 and continued throughout his life. He also made violins and almost completed No. 9. He was concertmaster of the Curry-Del Norte Orchestra as well as treasurer. He also played in most of the Lighthouse Repertory Theater musical productions in Crescent City.

He was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge 45 AFandamp;AM. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Crescent City.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane; mother, Emily Neish; son and daughter-in-law, Khris and Sue Bower of Crescent City; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mark Silva, of Vancouver, Wash.; Karen and Raymond Tedsen of Crescent City.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Chad and Grant Silva of Vancouver, Wash.; Erika, Soren and Julia Tedsen, and Kenny and Kayla Bower, all of Crescent City.

A celebration of Mr. Bowers life will be at the United Methodist Church at 664 H St., Crescent City, for his many friends and family.
