Norman Vernon Markey

Norman Vernon Markey, 74, of Harbor, died Sept. 22, 2002 at his home of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 6., 1928, in Fairfield, Calif., to Bryan and Mabel Margaret (Petersen) Markey.

Mr. Markey became a machinist and worked in the field of electronics until retirement. He had also served his country in the U.S. Army.

He married Joan Comber on May 20,1984, in Keno, Nev. He and his wife have made their home in Brookings for the last two years.

Mr. Markey was a member of Toastmasters. His hobbies and interests included model trains, boats and history. He was known for his fondness of dogs. He had heart for each one he owned and he will be remembered by others for his concerns and care of animals.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Joan; daughters, Brenda Rae of Everett, Wash.; Diane Turner of San Ramon, Calif, and Carol Bertnick of Petaluma, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Preceded in death were his parents, and a son, Richard Markey.

Memorial donations may be made to the South Coast Humane Society, 828 Railroad St., Brookings.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel.
