The Curry Coastal Pilot

Two Brookings shows remain for political comedy "November," presented by Crescent City's Lighthouse Repertory Theatre.

The show, presented in association with the Chetco Pelican Players, will be staged at 7:30 p.m. today (Aug. 16) and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play, written by David Marnet in 2007, takes place in the Oval Office of the White House a few days before a major presidential election.

In this show, directed by Dan McGlasson, President Charles Smith, played by Howard Patterson, has two assistants played by Bob Brissenden and Karen Martinez. They try to keep him on the right path, but so many things get in his way and he's off again on another tangent to manipulate the fast approaching election and inevitable possibility of losing, according to a LRT news release.

Always wanting to secure his "legacy" of a library for himself, he manages to go down any path to obtain it.

Colorful language is throughout the production as he brainstorms his way out of rabbit holes. Because of the strong language, this production is recommended for adults only.

The second weekend of this production will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22 and 23, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the College of the Redwoods Del Norte Education Center library, 883 W. Washington Blvd., Crescent City.

Tickets are $12 and are available in Brookings at Wright's Custom Framing and Art Supplies and in Crescent City at Del Norte Office Supply.
