Audiences will be taken into the land of Narnia, a magical place filled with fantastic creatures and talking animals, in the Chetco Pelican Players' youth production of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."
The play, based on the classic story by C.S. Lewis, will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Chetco Plahouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Free celebratory snacks and soft drinks, will be prepared and served by hospitality hostess Claire Willard.
The story begins when four children walk through a coat-filled wardrobe in England. Inside, they find the land of Narnia.
An evil witch (Madi Connolly), who has imprisoned Narnia in ice and snow, deceives and captures Edmund (Erick Wilson), one of the children. His brother Peter (Camryn Laidley) and sisters Susan and Lucy (Alexis Neketin and Ciera Yarbrough) must seek help from the great lion Aslan (Andrew Simmons), Narnia's creator and rightful ruler, to release Narnia and rescue Edmund. But the witch invokes the ancient "deep magic," and Aslan offers himself as a sacrifice in place of Edmund.
