The Curry Coastal Pilot

GOLD BEACH - The Curry County Fair is quickly approaching and the time to bring exhibits to the Event Center on the Beach is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22.

This gives organizers a day to set up and judge the exhibits for opening day, Thursday, July 24. The fair will continue through Sunday, July 27, at the fairgrounds on Highway 101 in Gold Beach.

There is no cost to enter exhibits in the fair and there are many awards to win as well as cash prizes.

For most people, it is more convenient to pick up the paperwork before entry day, fill it out in advance and then bring deliver it with the exhibit on Tuesday. Entrants may also bring the exhibit on entry day and do the paperwork there where there are people to help determine exactly which category and what numbers to use.

To prepare in advance, pick up an Exhibitors Handbook from a bank, store or one of the three entry stations of the county: in Brookings, at Wright's Custom Framing and Art Supplies, in Port Orford at the library or in Gold Beach at the fair office.

For Brookings residents unable to get to Gold Beach on entry day, exhibits may be dropped off until 4:30 p.m. at Wright's, provided that all the paperwork is as complete as possible and the packaging is secure.
