The Second Saturday Art Walk in downtown Brookings is back.

Venue hosts and event organizers have rested up during a three-month hiatus and are ready to bring the public a taste of local art, music and food.

Many changes have taken place, the biggest being the time: The Art Walk is now scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m., which means the first event of the afternoon - a kickoff parade - will be right at 3.

The parade will begin at Dewey's Digs, the Curry Coastal Pilot conference room on Art Walk Alley. Venues may send representatives to carry signs in the parade, which will proceed to Oak Street, up the hill to Chetco Avenue, then face traffic along the boulevard to Willow Street, and down the hill to Art Walk Alley and continue back to Dewey's Digs.

At 4 p.m., Richard Leathers, Pelican Bay Arts Association artist of the month, will give a talk titled "Inspiration and Composition in Photography" at the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St.

The final event of the evening will be a scene from Chetco Pelican Players' production of "The Importance of Being Earnest."

Cecily Cardew (Daisy Carr) meets Gwendolyn Fairfax (Ellen Stadelman) and they discover that they have both become engaged to a man named Ernest, and they think it's the same man. The scene also features Merriman the butler (Bill Schlichting) and his footman (Joe Taormina).

The scene will be performed at 5 p.m. at Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St. Following the Art Walk, the play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave.

Art Walkers are welcome to attend events of their choice and visit venues of their choosing. Most venues feature music and refreshments.
