Brookings Police Department arrested two Brookings residents Monday after an employee at a local gas station received a counterfeit $100 bill from one of the suspects.

When police arrived at about 4:45 p.m., the suspect who had passed the counterfeit bill was still at the gas station in a vehicle, according to the Brookings Police Department.

Ryland J. Caudell, 33, was found with an additional counterfeit bill and was arrested for forgery, possession of methamphetamine and for outstanding warrants.

The passenger in the vehicle, Erin Shelton, 22, of Brookings, was arrested for probation violations. This was second time she was involved with an arrest involving counterfeit bills this month, police said.

The two were transported to the Curry County Jail in Gold Beach and their car was impounded. The investigation continues.
