Burglars hit Brookings businesses

By Jane Stebbins, The Curry Coastal Pilot

Two business were burglarized in Brookings Saturday night, with the perpetrators stealing about $1,000 in personal items.

According to Brookings Police Lt. Donny Dotson, someone entered an upstairs rear window of attorney John Babin's office off Art Walk Alley and took the valued items. Police presume it was the same person who then entered the back door of Artistic Trends, which is across the street from the bowling alley on Alder Street. Currently there is little but shelving in the vacant building, and nothing was taken.

Dotson said he didn't know if the window and door were unlocked. Some "high-quality" latent fingerprints were successfully lifted from both scenes and have been sent to the crime lab for processing.
