The Curry Coastal Pilot

The Brookings Harbor Community Theater is now presenting the junior production of "The Emperor's New Clothes!" on stage at the Harbor Performing Arts Center.

Shows continue at 2 p.m. today (Jan. 12) with the closing weekend set for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18 and 19. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

"The Emperor's New Clothes" is the tale of a vain emperor who desires to look his best. With the encouragement of the empress, he receives a visit from a crafty tailor who, with assistance from the audience, has a plan to deliver a fabric so unique that it cannot be seen by fools. Not wanting to be a fool, the emperor and his royal subjects all agree that the new clothes are the finest in the land. The story comes to a close when a child comes forward, proclaims the truth, and a chase ensues.

The cast includes the emperor, played by Jed Doan, the empress played by Teryn Van Maren and Ashanti Franks; five actors play the characters Peter/Petra: Jenna Martini, Silas Pieper, Celeste Goetze, Daniel Pearson and Everett Van Maren; grandmother is played by Shannon Cowan; orchestra members are Faith Burton, Morgan Edwards, Alyssum Spitael, Amber Van Maren, Reagan Pierren and Lauren Pieper; the blacksmith is Camden Goetze; the royal horse is Eden Van Maren; peddlers, peasants, ministers and townspeople include Dublyn Heath, Rylan Goetze, Lauren Pieper, Isabella Tayman, Katelynn Graves, Camden Goetze, Ashlyn Dietrich, Eden Van Maren, Hauna Huck, and Dominic Hendrix; the dancing princesses are played by Isabella Tayman, Katelynn Graves, Hauna Huck, Eden Van Maren, Dublyn Heath and Ashlyn Dietrich.

Crew members include McKenzie Edwards, Seamus Tayman, Suzanne Graves, Miki Dingle, Dylan Panter, Christopher Burton, Charis Abblitt, Spencer Abblitt, Kendra Canady, and Ca'mare'a Freeman. The stage manager is Tiffany Van Maren, director is Dori Blodgett and house manager is Hazel Campbell.
