A pie pitch, balloon dart throw, bean bag toss and a haunted house are a few of the attractions that will be a part of this year's Azalea Carnival.

The carnival will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at Azalea Middle School, and is sponsored by the Azalea/Kalmiopsis Parent Teacher Organization. Tickets are 50 cents.

From 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 just the haunted house will be open. Tickets are $5.

"We do it every year because it's important for the PTO to provide a safe place for middle school and all children to come and have a good time under a safe environment," PTO vice-president Alice Farmer said. "We also try to build relations between the school and community, and bring the community into the school."

During the carnival, games will be operated by Azalea teachers, who will be dressed in Halloween costumes. Students are encouraged to dress up, as well.

Game winners will receive prizes, and hungry patrons can snack on pizza, popcorn and cotton candy.

All proceeds will be put toward replacing Azalea's existing reader board with an electronic one.

An electronic reader board "would be helpful with informing parents, and providing information about upcoming events and dates for parents as they drive by," Farmer said.

This will be the fourth year the carnival is held.
