By Jane Stebbins, The Curry Coastal Pilot

Brookings Mayor Ron Hedenskog and Brookings businessman Bruce Ellis will go head-to-head for the mayoral seat in the November election, it was announced last week.

The two completed petitions by the Aug. 28 deadline and will vie for the two-year term ending Jan, 12, 2015.

Also, Councilor Brent Hodges faces no competition in the race for Position No. 2, and Brookings resident William Hamilton is running uncontested for Position No. 1, held now by Dave Gordon, who has opted not to run for another term. Both councilor seats are four-year positions expiring Jan. 9, 2017.

The general election will be held Nov. 6, 2012. The Curry Coastal Pilot will published candidate profiles and cover candidate forums in the weeks leading up to the election.
