The Curry Coastal Pilot

The Curry County Chapter of the Friends of the NRA will hold its annual dinner banquet at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Brookings Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Drive.

Tickets are $35 each. Dinner will be prime rib, or a choice of an an alternate entree, plus a salad, baked potato, vegetable and dessert. Couples and children are welcome. National Rifle Association (NRA) membership is not required to participate. Activities include raffles, games, live and silent auctions. Sponsorships are available with varying costs and prizes,

Friends of the NRA is a nonprofit, tax exempt, non-political foundation that raises funds to support shooting sports. This includes programs for women and youth, as well as law enforcement projects and safety gear.

Funds raised are distributed based upon grants awarded by the state funding committee. Curry County has benefited from the grantawards, including the county sheriff's office receiving $4,500 for body armor and targets, and the South Coast Sportsmen's Association, based in Brookings, receiving $18,000 to develop a shooting range andtrain the public in the shooting sports.
