Teal shirts, vests and handbags, stylish jackets and accessories and long pants for every occasion were a few of the outfits from Chere's Boutique that were modeled Saturday during the Brookings Emblem Club 265's annual benefit fashion show and luncheon at the Elks Lodge.
While the fashions were modeled, Chere Wier of Chere's Boutique gave details about each ensemble. "Reversible" "teal is popular color" and "it's practical for Brookings and Crescent City," were a couple of her remarks.
"It was fantastic," Emblem Club President Bonnie Bremer said. "It was a sellout."
About 125 people attended Saturday.
Funds from the event go to help local charities such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Brookings-Harbor Redshirts, Oasis Shelter Home, South Coast Humane Society and Soroptimists International of Brookings; scholarships; drug awareness; community service; Americanism and literacy.
The club was not sure as of press time how much it raised.
"We like to help support other groups that are in need," Emblem Club Financial Secretary Karen Lennartz said.
In addition to watching models walk down the runway, those in attendance had an opportunity to win one of 59 raffle prizes and 30 door prizes. Seventeen of those were bouquets donated by Always in Bloom.
Raffle prizes included gift certificates to local businesses. The top raffle prize was a black diamond-studded watch retailing for $1,170.
"They were really generous with us this year. Some gave more than just one" donation, Lennartz said.
Harbor resident Welcome Lipparelli enjoyed the show.
"I thought it was nice," Lipparelli said. "I really thought they (the models) should walk around more, but I thought her clothes were very nice."
Brookings resident Karen Munson did too.
"I thought it was wonderful," Munson said. "They did a really good job. The businesses in town were very supportive."
Munson liked the food, the fashions and the emcee, Lennartz.
"It was absolutely marvelous," Lennartz said. "I had nothing but nice comments about it andndash; how well it was decorated and how much fun everybody had, and how good the food was."
