Friends of Music presents "An Afternoon of Opera and Musical Theater" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Calvary Assembly of God, 518 Fir St., Brookings.

The presentation will be given by operatic vocalists Eugene Brancoveanu, Ronit Widmann-Levy and Thomas Glenn.

During the 2011-12 season, baritone Brancoveanu has performed the title role in Shostakovich's rarely performed opera, "Orango," with Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. In past seasons he has appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, in Michael-Tilson Thomas' "The Thomashevskys," conducted by the composer, which was also performed in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Soprano Widmann-Levy made her debut with the San Francisco Symphony in 2005 in Schumann's "Das Paradies und die Peri," and has regularly performed with Tilson Thomas since. She has gone on to sing in opera houses and festivals in San Francisco as well as other cities throughout the United States, and in Germany, England, Thailand and Israel.

Glenn, who sings tenor, began his solo career with the Evangelist roles in the St. Matthew and St. John Passions of J.S. Bach, and continues to sing concert engagements with many orchestras throughout the U.S. He is a recent graduate of the Adler Fellowship program at San Francisco Opera.

Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults and free for youths. Tickets are available at the door.
