More than 55 people gathered on school grounds Sunday evening to pray for God's guidance over the 2011-12 school year which began Tuesday.

Under the leadership of the Brookings-Harbor Ministerial Association and organized by Brookings Church of the Nazarene Pastor Rick Green, members of the public walked around each public school in personal prayer before gathering in a circle to pray for anyone involved in that school who was attending the event.

The crowd first gathered at Kalmiopsis Elementary School for an opening prayer led by Green, followed by a walk around the school and the bus barn in silent prayer. The people then formed a circle to pray for the school. The prayer was led by Living Waters Foursquare Church Pastor Dwayne Rufener. The process was repeated at Azalea Middle School where prayer was led by Brookings-Harbor Christian Church Pastor Lance Knauss, and Brookings-Harbor High School where Brookings Church of the Nazarene Assistant Pastor Jim Wilson led prayer.

Wilson also led prayer for Brookings-Harbor Christian School, which is located inside Brookings Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to the prayer, it was also announced that a college group has formed for Christian students attending Southwestern Oregon Community College. For information about the study group, call Living Waters at 541-469-5757.
