MASSIVE POLICE SEARCH FAILS TO FIND MARIJUANA

The Brookings Police Department, along with several other agencies, found nothing when they executed a massive search Thursday in an effort to locate outdoor marijuana growth.

Assisting in the search were agents from South Coast Interagency Narcotic Team, Medford and Grants Pass police, Oregon State Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The search team consisted of 50 people from the various agencies and two National Guard helicopters.

The team searched an area of approximately 2,000 acres between Brookings and Pistol River executing five search warrants, said Brookings Detective Ron Plaster, the lead agent on the case.

He said a four to five week investigation culminated in the search. Unnamed sources provided information, said Plaster. He said the team had two suspects in mind, but declined to give any identifying information about those suspects.

The search started at 9:15 a.m. and ended at approximately 4:30 p.m.
