Sea Breeze, Brookings-Harbor High School?s jazz vocal ensemble, performed its final concert of the season Thursday and Friday nights, ending with its traditional ?Happy Trails to You.?

Former members of the group were able to join in singing the song, possbily bringing back memories of when they performed songs of their choice during the annual concert at the Performing Arts Center.

Director Jerry Moffit said each night?s performance was not exactly the same, although the song list was identical. There were ad libs each night.

At Friday night?s concert, the show opened with the entire group, sans Matt McVay who was out of town on another school function, singing ?Sugar? and ?Trickle, Trickle.?

Allison Towers performed the first solo of the evening. She sang ?Cabaret.? Towers? solo was followed by the first vocally accompanied solo ?Too Young,? sung by Brenda Hobson. She was accompanied by Andrew ?Toots? Meyer on trumpet.

When Stewart Riddle, the youngest member of Sea Breeze, was introduced by backstage emcee Jim Vandermeer, it was said that his accompanist, Moffit, was 23 1/2. Moffit proclaimed that he actually just turned 25. Riddle performed ?You?ve Lost that Lovin? Feeling?,? which included an on-his-knees plea and other antics that kept the audience laughing.

Mia Zepeda sang ?I?ve Got the World on a String,? followed by ?They Can?t Take That Away? by Ben Frizzle and Doris Marks singing ?Primitive.?

April Kinney sang a humorous song, ?Go Away, No Wait a Minute.?

Alex Rosenberg sang ?In the Still of the Night,? accompanied by Vandermeer, Frizzle, Marks and Carie Watson. Frizzle then joined Zepeda to perform ?They All Laughed? followed by Watson singing a modernized version of the Baroque piece, ?Joyful Joyful.?

Kinney and Towers got together to sing ?Somebody?s Out There.? The duet was followed by a solo from Patrick Johns, introduced as the Sea Breeze poster boy. He sang ?When I?m 64.?

Prior to intermission, the entire group sang ?Big Band Bash.? After the break the choir came back to sing ?Straighten Up and Fly Right? and ?I?ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.?

Jessica Pruden sang ?Thank You? followed by the return of Kinney to sing ?You?re Easy on the Eyes.?

Frizzle announced that his father drove 11 hours to be at the concert. He sang ?Moondance,? a song his father suggested.

Watson sang ?Wishin? and Hopin? ? followed by Zepeda and Elaine Prevenas singing ?Everybody Wants to be a Cat,? Hobson singing ?Brass in Pocket? Marks performing ?Charade,? and Prevenas singing ?How High the Moon.?

The concert closed with Sea Breeze singing ?Watermelon Man? and ?And So It Goes.?

In addition to Meyer on trumpet, Frizzle accompanied singers on alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, clarinet and congo drums; Sarah Ege and Moffit accompanied on piano; Dani Greenwood played bass guitar; Peter Seamons on drums; and Luke Mathison on guitar.

Other members of Sea Breeze are Garrett Pieren and Abby Vandermeer.
