Newcomers and veterans of Chetco Pelican Players breathed life into the songs of Cole Porter Friday and Saturday night.
Chances to see the musical production remain on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, on the Chetco Playhouse stage, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings.
andquot;An Evening with Cole Porterandquot; is more than a concert of consecutive songs - it is a theatrical production with skits that put the audience into the world of the early 20th-century musician.
The stage is set with radio shows, auditions, backstage camaraderie, night clubs, musical shows, piano lounges, janitors cleaning up and anywhere else Cole Porter Music would resonate.
Solos, duets and full choir pieces are augmented with acts and dances throughout the show.
The show opens with Jarrod Zinn singing andquot;Night and Day.andquot;
The program continues with andquot;What is This Thing Called Love,andquot; andquot;Love For Sale,andquot; andquot;Easy to Loveandquot; and andquot;Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love.andquot;
However, the evening is not all love songs. The audience will also hear andquot;Just One of Those Things,andquot; andquot;Let's Misbehave,andquot; andquot;Brush Up Your Shakespeareandquot; and andquot;Begin the Beguine.andquot;
Highlighting the show is Bob Petzold on guitar and piano, finger picking on the banjo by Carl Rovainen, a dance solo by Sophia Soberon and a duet by cousins Hanna Farr and McAlla Murdock.
