The granddaddy of andquot;rummage sales to end all rummage salesandquot; is on for the weekend of Aug. 22, 23, and 24.

However the location of the ninth annual Hospice Rummage Market has been changed.

This year the sale will be on the north jetty on Wedderburn Loop, adjacent to the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Gold Beach.

With 22,000 square feet of space, customers are bound to find just what they want and need from big items such as furniture and appliances down to small tools, toys, flowers, decorations, and clothing for men, women, and children, from head to toe, hats to shoes and everything in between.

In fact, organizer Patty Slagle said about the sale, andquot;If you can't find it here, chances are it doesn't exist. Our Hospice Rummage Market is a great place to do some early holiday shopping or help furnish that dorm room if you're college bound.andquot;

Those who shop at the rummage sale will not only save money with the bargain prices on all items, they will also be supporting Curry County Hospice.

Slagle explained that Curry County Hospice provides care, medications, supplies, equipment, and emotional support to individuals who are receiving end of life care. All money earned from donations and fundraisers is used to offset costs for patients who have no insurance or whose costs exceed insurance reimbursement.

She also noted that, although it is a county program, the hospice department receives no local tax support, so donations are also required to cover the cost for equipment and educational needs as well. The rummage sale is the major source of income for the hospice program.

According to Slagle, last year the rummage sale grossed $47,000. The tremendous effort required to successfully run a sale of this magnitude is provided by volunteers. Approximately 200 volunteers countywide contributed 9,000 hours of service to help make this year's sale a success. Slagle said, andquot;We are grateful to all of them, as well as to everyone of you for shopping and supporting this amazing event.andquot;

The sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22 and 23, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. Slagle emphasized, andquot;Doors will not open prior to the designated times, so no early birds please.andquot; She also noted that it is a smoke free event for everyone's safety and no animals allowed except service animals.

andquot;You can make a difference and have some fun, too, just by spending your weekend at the ninth annual Hospice Rummage Market in Gold Beach,andquot; Slagle said.

She added, andquot;Remember to respect door opening time, and come early, stay late, and plan to shop 'til you drop.andquot;
