Three happy winners were jumping up and down when they were awarded the first two prizes this month in the new Local Email Savings Club, begun in May by 11 Brookings businesses.
The 11 businesses, Ray's Food Place, Barron's Home Furnishings, The Salty Dog Coffee Bar, Chetco Pharmacy and Gifts, A-Xotic Pet Store, Precision Eyecare, In Motion Graphics, South Coast Humane Society Thrift Store, Always in Bloom flower shop, Bob's Stones, and Carpenter Auto Center announced that they have partnered to make a fun-filled year of giveaways and to create a little excitement for their customers.
Certainly Starlene Leach, Jeanne Warrant, and Kim Wood demonstrated excitement, smiles and laughter when their awards were presented this month.
Leach was the May winner who received the $250 gift certificate donated by Ray's Food Place for purchase of anything in the market, and Jeanne Warrant was the June winner who received a $300 gift certificate from Carpenter Tire Factory for new tires.
And Wood was delighted when her friend, Warrant, who said she didn't need tires, passed that certificate on to her. As she headed for Carpenter's Auto Center, she exclaimed, "I really need new tires. Mine are almost bald."
Carpenter Auto Center service writer and Internet coordinator Christine Belmont, who is the organizer for the giveaway program and helped present both awards, appeared to be as excited as the winners. "It's so exciting to see winners who really appreciate the awards," she said.
There is still time to win one of the remaining prizes that include a new recliner from Barron's Furniture Store, six months free coffee from Salty Dog, a $250 coupon for any gift items at Chetco Pharmacy and Gifts, a $200 gift certificate or a critter with a cage (restrictions on critters) from A-Xotic Pet Store, a $200 gift certificate toward a custom bumper from In Motion Graphics, a hand-quilted blanket from Humane Society Thrift Store, 12 monthly fresh-flower bouquets from Always in Bloom, one new eye exam and up to $130 off on a new pair of glasses from Precision Eye Care, or a custom pet marker from Bob's Stones.
Anyone can win by simply placing an entry ticket, with name and e-mail address on it, in a fishbowl at any one, or all, of the participating businesses.
Belmont noted that, obviously, if a participant places his/her name in fish bowls at all 11 businesses each month chances of winning are multiplied.
She added, "In addition, you will receive discounted coupons via e-mail throughout the year. Please stop in and visit these local businesses to enter."
