Chowder House: All Quiznos had to offer with more on the menu
Marge Woodfin, Pilot staff writer /
Christina Gotfried, who opened a Quiznos restaurant in the South
Coast Shopping Center in Harbor in 2006, has changed the restaurant's
name to Chowder House, and expanded the menu.
"It's Quiznos with a name change," Gotfried said. She said she wants
all of her customers to know that they will still be able to get the
items that they prefer, including all the same toasted sandwiches, plus
new items she was unable to serve under her franchise agreement.
She explained that she couldn't even add chocolate milk or a
pastrami sandwich to the menu as long as she was franchised as Quiznos.
"We want to have the flexibility to put items on our menu that our customers request," she said. "We are still offering quick service and our previous value menu with toasted subs, soups, and salad items."
As the new name suggests, added items do include Boston white clam chowder as one of the six daily soups served in a sourdough bread bowl, if preferred, including smoked salmon chowder, crab and corn chowder, or seafood gumbo.
Gotfried explained, "We wanted to offer our customers the same quality, quantity and consistency, focusing on them and what they want.
"Try our new additions such as a crab melt, pastrami sandwich, corned beef, teriyaki chicken, a gyro with lamb or beef, and a shrimp salad," Gotfried
She wants her clients to know that the former popular Quiznos items will remain on the menu.
"When we purchased the franchise, we felt that Quiznos was going in the right direction, but at this time we want to focus on our customers and what they are requesting," Gotfried emphasized.
The Chowder House is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The phone number remains the same - 541-412-SUBS (7827).
