Nancy A. Miller, RN, MSN, FNP, has joined the staff of the Chetco Medical Center, 585 Fifth St., in Brookings, announced Ginny Hochberg, chief executive officer of the Curry Health District.
Miller joins specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, oncology, neurology, psychiatry, nutrition, foot care and other health services in the center.
Her background includes emergency care and sports medicine as well as pediatric and family care. Bilingual in English and in Spanish, andquot;she is as comfortable with wellness exams as she is with treating the acutely ill,andquot; according to Kay Johnson, manager.
Available by appointment and on a walk-in basis, she is accepting new patients for general health care and maintenance, as well as anyone in need of urgent injury or acute illness care.
Miller received her bachelor's degree in political science before entering the master's program at University of California San Francisco School of Nursing. She graduated as a clinical nurse specialist in critical care and trauma, and then earned a post master's certification as a family nurse practitioner from Widener University School of Nursing in Philadelphia.
Miller moved to Curry County from Santa Fe, N.M., where she worked for six years in occupational, family, and emergency medicine. Previously, as a registered nurse, she staffed the adult surgical intensive care unit at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pa.; and the liver transplant unit at University of California Medical Center San Francisco.
