Melissa Clarke brings calm, flexibility, organization - and some fresh ideas - to her new business, Paragon Property Management.

A native of Idaho, Clarke and her family moved to Brookings a year and a half ago.

For about seven months, Clarke worked with former owner Marcia Alford, to be sure that property management was what she wanted to do.

With Oregon certification to be a property manager, in hand, Clarke took over the business in April.

As a property manager, she helps homeowners keep tabs when they have renters in their homes. Her packages for management include drive-by checks, maintenance, rent collecting and paying utilities.

In addition, for owners who don't want to rent out their property, services include andquot;storm checksandquot; and reports on the condition of the homes.

She has a andquot;great housekeeping staff and an excellent handyman,andquot; who, she said she would andquot;trust with my life.andquot;

A new feature has been added to her property management, andquot;a light, refreshing cleaning of the inside of the homes in preparation of an owner's return,andquot; she explained.

Clarke brings to the job the experience of taking care of rentals for her parents.

andquot;I'm a people person,andquot; she said. andquot;Property management is something I like doing; it fits my life and my family's needs.andquot;
