DOCTOR D HEALS THE PROBLEMS THAT LIE UNDER THE HOOD

Doctor D Autocare is celebrating its second anniversary in Brookings, and owners Ken and Laurie Podesta-Daniels have nothing but kind words for the reception their business has received.
andquot; We are very pleased with the fantastic reception we have received from the community since opening Doctor D Autocare in February 2006,andquot; Laurie said.
Ken has been doctoring cars for 37 years, and it's obvious that he loves his patients and their owners, and, according to one of those owners, the feeling is mutual.
As Caroline Milliman picked up the keys to her vehicle she talked about how much she appreciated the service from her car doctor. She said that he always listens to her and to her car, knows what he's doing, and always finds and heals the problem.
Another client said that Doctor D doesn't just take care of the problem presented, but always listens carefully to the patient to determine any other ailments that might be looming.
andquot; We want folks to know that when they bring their vehicles to Doctor D Autocare they will always be treated fairly and honestly, and we stand behind our workandquot; Laurie said
Ken said that he guarantees his work and uses only parts that he knows will last.
andquot; We want to be known for setting standards for auto repairs and service that our customers deserve and have come to respect, andquot; Ken said.
Laurie said that a former customer, a well-known medical doctor, inspired the business name when he told them that Ken wasn't just an auto mechanic, but he was an auto doctor.
The Podesta-Danielses and their business landed in Brookings because they were looking for a life change and a slower pace. Laurie explained that Elk Grove, Calif., where they lived and worked had grown from 10,000 to 200,000 residents in the last 15 years, and it was just too crowded.
Laurie said they came to visit her parents in Gold Beach and decided to investigate Brookings. They loved what they saw, heard, and felt.
During their inspection of the town they found the vacant building at 614 Memory Lane, and it just seemed right for them.
A deal was struck with the owners, and they were soon moving lock, stock and barrel. That was a lot of lock, stock, and barrel to move, including personal and household furnishings, auto repair equipment, and a collection of vehicles of all sizes and shapes.
The back room shelves at Doctor D's are crammed with diecast model cars and the floor space holds a collection of special vehicles that are part of their family history.
Dr. D Autocare is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday by appointment. The telephone number is (541) 469-3204.
