Youth soccer sign ups
Last year, 385 children from the Brookings area participated in youth soccer. This year's Brookings Harbor soccer league season is rapidly approaching, with sign-ups scheduled for March 15, 30, and April 6, between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Chetco Public Library conference room.
Birth certificates are required. There is a $40 fee for each player. A $20 fee will be charged to families with three or more children playing in the league. Practice is expected to start on Aug. 14. Wild River Run
The Redwood Wild River Run will return to Del Norte County on March 25. There will be races in three different categories 15K, 5K and a fun walk. The unique location in the old growth redwoods is 10 miles northeast of Crescent City, just off of U.S. Highway 101 and South Fork Road. Register before March 16 and pay a $15 fee. Pear Blossom Run
Pear Blossom Run entry forms are now available for the 30th annual event scheduled for April 8 in Medford. Forms may be obtained by mailing a business-size, self-addressed, stamped envelope: Pear Blossom Run, P.O. Box 146, Medford, OR 97501, or visit the website: www.pearblossomrun.com.
This year there are four events scheduled the Mayor's Mile or 2-mile run, a 5K, or the Granddaddy 10-mile run. Over 4,000 participants are expected in what has become a celebration of the first rites of spring. There is also a parade and street faire accompanying the Rogue Valley's top athletic event of the year.

The donkeys are coming to Brookings-Harbor High School on Saturday, April 22 at 6 p.m., when the Chetco Shrine Club sponsors its' annual donkey basketball game.
The game will feature members of Brookings Police and Fire versus members of the Curry County Sheriff's office all riding donkeys.
Proceeds from the game will go to the Shrine causes helping children. Tickets are available at a discount if purchased in advance. Advance prices are $100 for 30 tickets, and $50 for 15 tickets. Join women's golf
The Del Norte Women's Golf Club wants to encourage women to join the club out on the course.
Women of all ages and ability levels are welcome to join the club. There is a $35 annual fee for club membership, plus greens fees for each round of golf. The club plays Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m., year round, at the Del Norte Golf Course, 130 Club Drive, Hiouchi. The season starts on March 1. Over 450 Oregon boys and girls will compete in the USA gymnastics Oregon 2006 state championships presented by Regence on March 18 and 19, at the Tualatin Hills Athletic Center in Beaverton. The meet will begin at 8 a.m. both days.

Roseburg to Coos Bay relay
The 29th Roseburg to Coos Bay Relay is scheduled for April 15.
The event will feature five-man teams to cover the 67-mile course, with each team member running three legs of between 3 to 6 miles.
The route follows the historic Coos Bay Military Wagon Road, which passes through sparsely populated and remote areas of Oregon's coast range. The beautiful scenery and peaceful solitude of the little-used road are a stimulating background for the race.
The event also features a 23-mile walk relay, from Laverne Park on the North Fork of the Coquille River to Coos Bay.
The walk follows the north fork for about 5 miles before joining the run route at Fairview.
The South Coast Running Club and the Camp Millennium Committee sponsor the event, which is a benefit for the camp's summer recreational opportunities for children with cancer.
